Contact Prints

Contact Prints are made by exposing light-sensitive photo paper with items on to it to light typically from an enlarger. The items can anything, from being film negatives to keys to a hand. An item that is transparent, even slightly, will result in the image of the item appearing lighter in the print. Photographers use contact prints of film negatives, to envision what larger prints may look like and what developing tools they may need to utilize when developing full prints of their pictures.

Below is a contact sheet I made of physical items. I choose to use all the items of my keys, which incidentally are the items that I care to feel safe as a woman who often walks and travels alone.
